Turnout shows what your webinars do for revenue. It reads your Livestorm webinars and your Stripe billing, matches attendees with your customers, and compares those who attended with those who registered and did not show up: new customers, trial conversion, onboarding retention, expansion and churn. The Turnout app for Livestorm gives it read-only access to your webinars in about two minutes.
Until it is, connect Livestorm with an API token: in Turnout, open Settings › Sources and paste a token, as explained there. Everything below about what Turnout reads and keeps applies to a token too.
1. What you need
- A Turnout workspace with Stripe connected. No workspace yet? Create one: the first 14 days are free.
- The admin role in that workspace. Viewers see the connections but cannot change them.
- A Livestorm workspace whose plan includes API access, and a Livestorm account allowed to install apps in it.
Turnout asks Livestorm for one permission: read your events (the events:read scope), which covers their sessions and the people registered to them. It never asks to change anything in Livestorm.
2. Connect from Turnout
- Sign in to Turnout and open Settings › Sources.
- Under Livestorm, click Connect with Livestorm.
- Livestorm asks whether Turnout may read your events. Check that it is the workspace you want, then accept.
- You are back on Settings › Sources, which says “Livestorm is connected”. Your webinars are read at the next refresh: the daily one, or Refresh now in Settings › Refreshes.
Results appear on the Webinar impact page once the refresh is done. The first one reads your whole webinar history, so it takes longer than the daily ones.
3. Connect from the Livestorm marketplace
- In Livestorm, open the App marketplace, find Turnout, and install it.
- Livestorm sends you to Turnout. Sign in, or create your workspace and connect Stripe first, then come back to this step.
- Turnout sends you back to Livestorm once more to confirm the access, then to Settings › Sources, as in steps 3 and 4 above.
4. What Turnout reads, and where it keeps it
- Read-only access (the
events:readscope): your events, their sessions, and the people registered to each session, as Livestorm returns them. That includes names, emails, companies, job titles, registration answers and attendance. Turnout never creates, changes or deletes anything in Livestorm. - API calls: refreshes count against your Livestorm workspace’s API quota. Turnout stops at the budget set in Settings › Webinar settings (3,000 calls every 30 days by default) and shows the calls used in Settings › Sources.
- Where: in the EU (Frankfurt), encrypted in transit and at rest. The access Livestorm gives Turnout is stored encrypted and opened only by the service that reads your webinars. Results show aggregates, never attendees’ names or emails.
- The privacy policy and the Data Processing Agreement cover the rest.
5. Disconnect or uninstall
- In Turnout: Settings › Sources › Disconnect Livestorm deletes the stored access at once, and the webinar data copied from Livestorm within 24 hours. Your billing results are not affected. Then also uninstall the app in Livestorm.
- In Livestorm: uninstalling the Turnout app from the App marketplace ends Turnout’s access at once. The next refresh shows the connection as not working. The data already copied stays until you disconnect Livestorm in Turnout, delete the workspace, or nobody uses it for 12 months (privacy policy, section 8).
6. If something goes wrong
- “Livestorm refused access to your webinars. Not every Livestorm plan includes API access: Livestorm support can turn it on.” Your Livestorm plan does not include API access. Livestorm support can turn it on.
- “This connection attempt expired or was started in another browser. Start again.” Click Connect with Livestorm again, in the same browser, and finish within 10 minutes.
- “Only workspace admins can connect Livestorm.” Ask an admin of your Turnout workspace, or ask them to make you an admin in Settings › Workspace.
- Livestorm shows as not working in Settings › Sources: the app was uninstalled in Livestorm, or its access was revoked. Click Reconnect with Livestorm.
- Rather use an API token? In Settings › Sources, click “Use a Livestorm API token instead” and follow “How to get a token”.
